Definitions of Achievement
Winners, success stories, and champions are three distinct words in my vocabulary. “Winners” are those individuals and teams who have figured out the systems and the processes to such a degree that victory can be a relatively consistent event. It can be a bit of a hit-or-miss proposition because luck, misfortune, and timing can be significant factors on determining whether or not you come out on the positive side. “Success stories” are even further along the continuum of achievement. They have not only mastered the process of winning, they are structured to consistently be able to overcome many of the problems and pitfalls that will derail most ordinarily talented and prepared individuals or teams. “Champions”, on the other hand, are at the top of the achievement continuum. They have mastered winning and are programmed for continual success. But they are destined for championship status because they have embraced the “Principles of Achievement”, and have structured an “Environment of Excellence” from which physical, intellectual and attitudinal growth can occur for all members. It’s not an easy status to attain….but the rewards are dynamic. For in the final analysis, winning is great, success is wonderful, but a champion is eternal.
